Paid Parental Leave

The opportunity to utilize paid parental leave when we had our baby earlier this year was really important to me. My wife works in human healthcare and surprisingly, she did not get maternity leave other than her PTO and short-term disability, so being home for those first few weeks and helping her while she recovered was really helpful while we both got used to a new routine. I felt supported while I was on leave and not like I was burdening my teammates by being off. My manager even reached out to make sure I didn’t want to take any more time since I didn’t utilize the full six weeks, and reminded me I have the option to take additional weeks later in the year if I wanted.
